Mosinee School District Community:
The Marathon County Health Department is referring schools and residents to this LINK about specific information concerning COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin. At this time there are no confirmed cases in Marathon County and no community spread because there is no indication that COVID-19 is in our community yet.
I’ve attached a Memo from Governor Evers which outlines a frequently asked questions for school closure which does a good job of outlining this decision process related specifically to COVID-19. The 3rd link in the attached PDF provides the most detailed information.
We do still, at the time of this email, plan to have school Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in accordance with the Governor’s Order shutting down at 5 pm 3/18/20 as indicated in the attached memo.
I will continue to monitor the situation, including staying in touch with medical professionals when determining a possible closure related to COVID-19. As this information shows, I am open and willing to the possibility of closing schools earlier than the Governor’s Order depending on the situation and recommendations. This is a rapidly changing situation and I will remain engaged and actively involved until we have full resolution sometime in April. I am also posting updates on twitter @mosineeschools.
If you decide to keep your children home Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (3/16-3/18), they will be excused.
Thank you for your continued understanding as we work through this situation.
David Muñoz
Superintendent
